Description

Vampire Hunters is a solo roleplaying game set in 1880s Germany, that uses a single deck of playing cards.
A miasma is sweeping across the kingdom of Bavaria. Fearful folk link the infections and gruesome deaths with legends of vampires. They might be right - but no two tales seem to be the same; each monstrous entity has its own powers, its own weaknesses and a singularly unique method of dispatch. The player takes on the role of a brave citizen of the kingdom, drawn into a secret war against eldritch, blood-drinking vampires; but each battle is different and what worked against the last foe may not work against the next. Your character is always learning, fighting, adapting, and discovering new ways in which to defeat the horror.
Vampire Hunter is designed for a single player to assume the role of an intrepid investigator in 19th century Bavaria, chasing rumours of vampirism and then battling the evil with your wits and your skills. All that is required is a notebook, a pen or pencil, a single deck of regular playing cards, and imagination. It is the player and his imagination which connects the dots and fills in the blanks – to turn a procedure into an enjoyable game. However, plenty of clues, advice, tips and suggestions are provided by the rules in this game to ease the burden on the player and provide a great stimulus to his imagination.
