A system for creating TTRPGs around performances
Inspired by the solo horror ballet TTRPG Pirouette, the Standing Ovation SRD is a system to help creators design solo TTRPGs around performances. Whether your game is around dance, a sport, or it's set in a circus, the Standing Ovation SRD uses it's specific scope to help you in making simple but effective games!
The Standing Ovation SRD Uses:
A Tarot deck: Both the Minor and Major Arcana decks will be needed for crafting the story the character will experience.
The Minor Arcana cards will help determine your routine, the difficulty, and how well you performed it.
The Major Arcana cards are prompt cards, either representing the character's thoughts and memories or real occurrences happening around them.
A Block Tower: Used to determine if the performance ends early. Once the block tower falls, the performance ends, likely in a bad way.
The tower adds a lot of tension to the game play so is best used for games with a horror or thriller vibe. Other genres might benefit from a different tool. Token collection or dice towers work just as well and helps keep the bar of entry needed for the game to a minimum.
A Journal: Used to record what happens within the game and character thoughts.
It doesn't have to be a journal, some players might prefer using a computer and depending on the topic of your game, it might be more fitting to use mediums such as an audio log.
